We tend to get frost and snow pretty early.

This year was really our first year at gardening and very much a learning experience. The rain and winds we had we far beyond most years and did a lot of damage to my vegetable garden. Some things survived and I will carry the learning experience into next year and do better.

Gardening is so rewarding. Once we have a property further south we will give the fall gardening a try.

Re: Fall Gardening

So you are doing fall gardening there in Japan? Great! I hope you enjoy the taste of the veggies. :)

Re: Fall Gardening

I think it should work for you as well, even when planting in pots. At least you should give it a try. The delicious taste of these vegetables will be worth it. Good luck with it and let me know how it was working in your pots.

Re: Fall Gardening

In Japan can get a harvest of autumn cucumbers and aubergines in. Thinking more about Chinese cabbages, garlic, and onions though

Re: Fall Gardening

What a unique idea, fall vegetable planting. I think it would work well for me because I plant in pots on my back deck with a south exposure. It's warm in the sun during the day even until end of October. After that I don't know, danger of frost by then.
